Angelita Sampaio, our Houston Vice President, reflects on her upcoming three-year Emanci-versary, and how Emancipet’s seven years in Houston have changed life for her pet family and for thousands of pet owners in the community.
My three soul-mutts, Buddha, Flora and Nena turn fifteen years old this month (October). I rescued them from the streets of Brazil when they were three months old. I always had dogs and cats growing up, as family pets, but this was the first time I had pets to care for on my own.
I was new to Houston at the time so I immediately searched for affordable veterinary care for my dogs, allowing me to provide the preventative healthcare they deserved. I was able to get them spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccines and healthy, thanks to low-cost veterinary services. I’m grateful to be part of an organization with a mission I believe in whole-heartedly. We’re on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible for everyone.
Buddha, Flora, Nena and I have been through so much together, many ups, a few downs and most importantly, we have had one another to rely upon for love, companionship and support.
I would not want to imagine my life without them – they are my greatest motivation and inspiration for my career with Emancipet.
I strive to work daily to help keep pet families, like mine, healthy, happy and together, where they belong.
As I reflect back on the past few years (I will celebrate my three-year Emanci-versary in January 2022), I am truly inspired by our Emancipet team/staff and the compassionate care they provide to our clients and patients.
My heart overflows with warmth when I see the relationships of devotion, love, companionship, and fulfillment between our clients and the pets that they cherish.
I think we can all agree that with the extra challenges we have faced over the past couple of years, having that special four-legged someone at home who is always excited to see us when we return home from the work and to comfort us throughout the day, lifts our spirits and impacts our lives in a positive manner. Our pets bring immeasurable joy to our lives and teach us about love and happiness which definitely is something to celebrate!
As we prepare to kick-off our seventh year in Houston, we are excited about the pet families we will meet, seeing the existing clients/patients at our two clinics, and expanding our services and footprint in the city of Houston.
