I have always had an unwavering love for animals but before working at Emancipet in Houston, I wasn’t aware that the most important factor of taking care of pets was veterinary care.
I grew up in an underserved community much like the ones where Emancipet strives to open clinics. My family and I never had the resources to properly care for our companion animals or to be able to give them a long and healthy life.
Now as Branch Manager of the Emancipet Monroe clinic, I feel like I have a personal connection to our clients because I empathize with the struggle of finding affordable and accessible veterinary care for their pets – who they love so very much.
Emancipet Monroe opened its doors the same day Harris County announced a countywide mask mandate and implemented strict physical distancing guidelines to stop the spread of COVID-19.
I thought that this would definitely put a halt to our plans and goals to serve the community, but all it did was reassure us that we need low cost veterinary care more than ever.
I’m proud to say that in our first year of operations, my team and our devoted doctors performed over 4,000 spay/neuter surgeries and welcomed more than 16,000 client visits.
I am extremely proud of all the accomplishments that my team has achieved. I’m also grateful to our wonderful donors who play a vital role in allowing us to carry out our mission of providing high-quality veterinary care to fellow Houstonians. It is such a rewarding feeling to be able to know that we are making a difference in the lives of our clients and their pets.
