On July 20th, 2022 Emancipet opened its newest clinic in Philadelphia inside of the PetSmart located at 11000 Roosevelt Boulevard which is just eight and a half miles northeast of their original Philadelphia clinic on Adams Avenue.
PetSmart Charities has supported Emancipet’s mission through grants since 2006. PetSmart Charities recently announced a new strategic focus on improving access to veterinary care in the United States and Canada.
Grand Opening
The grand opening of Emancipet’s second Philadelphia clinic comes just a few months after the five-year anniversary of its first clinic. Members of Emancipet’s board were joined by the CEO, Amy Mills, and Aimee Gilbraith, President of PetSmart Charities, who have partnered with Emancipet to open this renovated veterinary care facility.

Increasing Access to Care
The Adams Avenue clinic was also funded with a grant from PetSmart Charities, where Emancipet cared for over 25,000 pets last year. With the opening of this new location, we hope to double our community impact.
“When you look at just the city of Philadelphia, it’s about 500,000 pets … whose families do not always have the ability to find or afford veterinary care for their pets, so we are looking at solving that problem community by community,” said Emancipet CEO Amy Mills. “We don’t think that the amount of money in your pocket should dictate whether or not you should provide health care for your family members, and pets are family.”
