Free Services Available to Travis County Residents Only

We are proud to work with the City of Austin to provide “Free Days” to Travis County residents. To take advantage of the free services provided you will be asked to provide a Travis County address.

How It Works

  • MORNING OF SIGN-IN PROCESS: Surgery is provided on a first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed. Emancipet staff will arrive on site at approximately 6am, and ask clients to form a line and sign in at that time. Only Emancipet staff members will sign in clients and form a sign in list. Any sign in lists made by clients or volunteers will not be accepted. If we have room for your pet, it will be loaded on the Mobile clinic once it arrives at the clinic site.
  • Your pet must be on a leash or in a secure carrier.
  • No more than three pets per person per visit.
  • Do not feed your pet breakfast the morning of surgery; all food should be withheld starting at midnight the night before. Water is allowed; do not withhold water from your pet.
  • Pick your pet up between 5 and 5:30 p.m. on the same day.
  • COST: FREE FOR TRAVIS COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY
  • HOW TO SCHEDULE: Our Free Spay Neuter services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, but you must be a Travis County resident. Services consist of a rabies vaccination performed at the time of your pets spay or neuter surgery. Emancipet’s Mobile Free Spay Neuter program is operated under contract with the City of Austin.

Who’s it for?

All female dogs.

How to schedule?

Offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The line typically starts forming around 6am for an 8am drop off. Please note there are limited spaces available!

What’s it do? Why should I do it?

Healthy dogs can be spayed as young as 3 months, if they are over 3 pounds in body weight.

Spaying helps prevent uterine infections, breast tumors, and pregnancy. Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases, and can help your female pet live a longer, healthier life.

Emancipet veterinarians are highly skilled clinicians and surgeons. However, we do want to make sure you’re well aware of any risk that applies to your pet. If your pet’s procedure is considered high risk, you will be asked to sign a form acknowledging the elevated risk. If you have any questions, please ask our clinic staff when you check your pet in for their appointment.

What’s it do? Why should I do it?

Healthy dogs can be neutered as young as 3 months, if they are over 3 pounds in body weight.

Neutering eliminates the possibility of testicular cancer and greatly reduces the chance of prostate disease, two extremely common and serious problems of older male dogs. Neutering can also reduce the risk of perianal tumors and perineal hernias. If a dog is neutered before it reaches puberty, some unwanted behaviors may be prevented such as urine marking, aggression and sexual behaviors. Most dogs reach puberty around 8 months of age.
