Meet Missy McCullough
Better together.
Lifelong animal advocate, Missy McCullough, founded Animal Trustees of Austin (ATA). ATA and Emancipet worked closely for many years, both having the same mission of providing affordable veterinary care to the Austin community and beyond. In 2016, the organizations decided they would be better together and merged, with Emancipet fully incorporating ATA’s staff, facility, and programs.
Missy is known as the mother of animal welfare in Austin. She managed ATA’s mission for over 20 years. Now on team Emancipet, she continues her selfless work for animals and their families in need.
Missy’s positivity and devotion to all living things in need has made her a force in the field and a light in all of the lives she has, and continues to touch. Emancipet is elated to honor Missy’s ongoing impact on the Austin community and beyond with an annual day of giving (DOG) — the DOG Days event.
We’ll celebrate Missy’s 31st anniversary as a pioneer of the Austin animal welfare community. The event will kick off at Community First! Village, a community for people (and their pets) who are coming out of chronic homelessness. Through this unique partnership, volunteers will give back to not just one, but TWO communities Missy has served in her lifelong pursuit of keeping Austin’s people and pets happy, healthy, and together.

Emancipet is on a mission to make spay/neuter services and veterinary care affordable and accessible to all pet owners, and we can’t do that without YOU. Managing an expanding national network of low-cost veterinary clinics and advocating for strategies and public policies that improve the lives of pets in underserved communities takes a village.
If your organization loves pets and believes that they bring immeasurable joy to our lives, help Emancipet keep pet families healthy, happy, and TOGETHER, where they belong.
