Inside Emancipet

In the world of veterinary care, every day brings new challenges and triumphs. At Emancipet, one such triumph unfolded in the form of Kitty’s life-saving journey at our Philadelphia Adams Avenue Clinic. Kerri, Kitty’s human, shared her experience, highlighting the exceptional care and compassion that defined Kitty’s treatment at Emancipet. 

Impact Austin gave Emancipet its first grant ever back in 2006. This was our first significant grant from an Austin funder, and it was transformative in so many ways. It was a moment of going from grassroots to starting to see a future as a professional veterinary provider.

At Emancipet, we often witness the resilience of pets thanks to the love and compassion of their people. Milo’s story is no different. It began when Linda, a compassionate soul with a love for animals, discovered a scruffy little dog in her driveway.

Nonprofits do not succeed without the support of amazing, dedicated volunteers – Emancipet included! Marty started volunteering at our Levander Loop branch over a decade ago.

The ASPCA began supporting Emancipet in 2007 as part of a community initiative to help Austin, Texas become a more humane community for pets.

My hope for the future is that Emancipet will continue to bring more love into the world by providing high quality veterinary care for those who would otherwise fall into the access to veterinary care gap. … My hope for the future is that we just keep going. We’ve achieved so much in our first 25 years, and I know this for sure: Emancipet is just getting started.

As part of our 25-year anniversary celebration, we will be honoring those who played pivotal roles in our journey. Our first honoree of the year is PetSmart Charities.

After over 163 entries and 42,075 votes, the results are in… Congratulations to our winner, Stella, with 11,803 votes!

At Emancipet, we know a positive heartworm diagnosis is difficult for families and their pets. But with our low-cost, effective treatment, we’re here for you. In partnership with Austin Animal Center, we treat heartworm on many adoptable dogs including Stella.

On February 13, 2024, after 25 years of service, Emancipet hit a significant milestone – 2 million client visits!
