At Emancipet, we believe that no one should ever have to choose between taking care of their pet and paying their bills. That’s why we’ve built our entire nonprofit model around making high-quality veterinary care accessible and affordable for everyone—regardless of their financial situation.

At Emancipet, we have a clear goal: to make vet care affordable and easy to get for everyone. But we don’t stop there. We work hard to make sure the care we give is the best it can be. Our Chief Medical Team follows six important rules to help us do this – what we call the “Six Domains of Quality Care.” These principles guide our teams and help us care for hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats each year.

April marks the incredible one-year anniversary of the opening of Emancipet’s Austin Dental and Surgical Center! Meet Rocko, whose life has been touched by the compassionate care at the Austin Dental and Surgical Center.

Our greatest wish is for our companions to live long, happy, and healthy lives. One of the most significant threats to our dog’s well-being is heartworm disease, a serious and potentially fatal condition. Heartworm disease, transmitted through mosquito bites, can cause severe lung disease, heart failure, and organ damage if left untreated. 

Petco Love has made a significant $100,000 investment in Emancipet to bolster our mission of providing affordable and accessible veterinary care. This incredible grant will directly support our life-saving work in the regions we serve including –  Austin, Pflugerville, Killeen, and Houston, Texas, as well as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It’s a testament to the dedication of our teams in these communities and the vital need for the services we provide!

At Emancipet, we believe every pet family deserves to give their pet a healthy, happy, and long life. That’s why we’re proud to have established the Austin Dental & Surgical Center (ADS) in 2024, the first-of-its-kind in Central Texas (and the nation!) dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost dental and surgical care for pets. 

When Loki, a five-year-old Pitbull mix, developed a dangerous intestinal blockage, his owner, Loreli, was overwhelmed by the high cost of emergency vet care. Desperate for help, she reached out to friends and was guided to Emancipet.

In 2024, Emancipet’s network of clinics jointly performed 50,000 spay/neuter surgeries in a single year—a record for us. And at the heart of this milestone is a special cat named Fidget.

Sometimes, the best surprises come with wagging tails! When Jax the Bernadoodle unexpectedly joined his new family, they quickly fell in love and committed to giving him the best care possible. Thanks to Emancipet’s affordable services, Jax’s neuter surgery was a smooth and positive experience. Now, he’s back to his playful self, happy and healthy at home.

Emancipet recently celebrated an incredible milestone: our 1.5 millionth all-time Healthy Pet Services (HPS) visit! We were thrilled that this special moment in our 25 years came during a visit from Kemah and her family to our Northwest Freeway Clinic in Houston, TX. Their story is a testament to the impact affordable veterinary care can have on pets and the people who love them.

For one dedicated pet owner, Nubia, life revolves around five very different, very special dogs. Each one of them came into her life at a unique moment, bringing their own personality and quirks. Together, they’ve formed the heart of her family—and with the help of Emancipet, they’re all thriving thanks to affordable preventative care.
