Emancipet’s Mobile Clinic offers free or discounted Healthy Pet Services for pets who live in the City of Austin or Travis County on designated “Free Days.” These services are for clients who cannot afford the low-cost options available at our East Austin or Central Austin clinics. Funding for this program is provided by the City of Austin/Travis County Animal Services and by private donations to Emancipet. Please note that these services are not available for rescue groups or shelters.
Free spay and neuter services are available at our mobile clinics on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note there are limited surgery spaces available.
What To Expect: At 6 a.m. in the parking lot of the Mobile Clinic location, an Emancipet veterinary technician will begin taking client names, and answering questions about services. Patients will be taken from their owners and loaded onto the mobile clinic when it arrives on site, between 7:30am and 8am. Free Rabies and Microchips are available as well as other vaccines and preventatives for a low cost as part of the service. Patient pick up will be between 2pm and 5pm.
The services listed below are provided at our mobile clinics on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning we do not offer appointments. Simply come by with your pet whenever you are ready during our health pet services hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Emancipet charges a $20 office visit fee for all Healthy Pet Services, but this fee is waived for Travis County residents attending a Free Day mobile clinic.

During the summer months on days with extreme heat, we may close our Mobile Free Day HPS events earlier than 2:30 p.m. This is done to keep people and pets from overheating, and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
Yes!
Bring water, chair(s), and an umbrella if possible to keep sun off pets while waiting for services.
Wait in the car, if possible, with the AC on.
Dogs and cats who have shorter noses — such as pugs, bulldogs, and persian cats — are particularly sensitive to heat and humidity and can quickly develop heat stroke. With this in mind, we advise that clients keep these pets in an air-conditioned vehicle until it is their turn with the veterinarian.
Spay and neuter services, microchips, rabies vaccines, and DHPP vaccines for dogs up to 6 months of age are free for Travis County and City of Austin residents. See full breakdown above for what is covered by the City of Austin and what is provided at a low cost.
No appointment is necessary. All services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis during our regular hours of operation.
Morning of Sign-in Process
Surgery is provided on a first come, first served basis and is not guaranteed. Emancipet staff will arrive on site at approximately 6am, and ask clients to form a line and sign in at that time. Only Emancipet staff members will sign in clients and form a sign in list. Any sign in lists made by clients or volunteers will not be accepted. If we have room for your pet, it will be loaded on the Mobile clinic once it arrives at the clinic site.
Leash/Carrier
Your pet must be on a leash or in a secure carrier.
Pet Limit
We cannot accept more than three pets per person per visit (exceptions may be made at the discretion of the technician for litters between 3 and 5 months).
Feral Cat Notice
Unfortunately, we cannot service feral cats at our Free Day Mobile Clinic event. If you have a trapped feral that you would like to spay/neuter, please call Emancipet at 512-587-7729, follow the phone prompts to book a spay/neuter appointment, and one of our Resource Center Specialists can review options with you.
Large Dogs
We love our large dog patients, but due to their size and the limited number of large kennels on our mobile clinic, we tend to run out of large kennels quickly. In cases of extra-large dogs, our kennels may not be big enough to accommodate them for surgery safely. However, there is good news! If we are unable to intake your large dog for surgery, our Mobile team will give you a voucher that you can use to call and schedule a free spay/neuter surgery at one of our brick-and-mortar clinic locations. We appreciate your understanding.
Feeding
Do not feed your pet breakfast the morning of surgery; all food should be withheld starting at midnight the night before. Water is allowed; do not withhold water from your pet.
Pick-up
You will receive a text message with your pick-up time. Pick-up times are generally between 2pm and 5pm.
