Nonprofits do not succeed without the support of amazing, dedicated volunteers – Emancipet included! Marty started volunteering at our Levander Loop branch over a decade ago. She had a background as a veterinary technician and began assisting in that capacity 14 years ago when Emancipet was still operating out of a mobile unit on Austin’s east side. Marty said she started to volunteer with Emancipet to get more experience, and then just fell in love with Emancipet’s mission and the place. “I’ve stayed a long time, and have seen the benefits and wonderful results of what we’ve been doing,” Marty said, “The clinic is my home away from home. I’ve worked at almost all of the Austin clinics, I’ve met a lot of new staff, and helped a lot of people, and helped people to keep their animals healthy. I love what I do.”
Marty has been an irreplaceable member of the team, bringing in food and supporting the staff, supporting Emancipet and our work. Now, you cannot think about Levander Loop without thinking of Marty! She is a key figure at staff weddings, hosts parties for the team, and is an integral part of our community. Thank you, Marty, you are the soul of our clinic!
Here’s what some of our team members had to say:
“Emancipet will change the world” is the phrase that comes to mind when I think of Marty, she truly is our biggest supporter of our mission and says that phrase to me constantly. Marty is such a force when she comes in to volunteer her time with us. If she sees a line of Pet Parents waiting for pick up, she will do a group post-surgery instruction speech to all of them. She’s our biggest advocate for heartworm testing and prevention on every pet that comes in, even going so far as to pay for those services if the Owner cannot afford them. Marty consistently comes in on Friday’s and Saturday’s and makes sure she arrives with cupcakes and Mexican food for the staff to enjoy. She can be such a bright light on our busy days! Her support and morale are priceless and Levander wouldn’t be the same without her. “ Robert F.
“Marty is such a great person. I love how much she cares about what we do as technicians and how much she loves our mission and the pets that come to see us. We would not be the same without her!” -David A.
“Marty makes me laugh whenever she shares her stories with us and I love having her in the clinic when she comes in. She’s like our clinic mom feeding us all the time too.” – Gisel R.
