Healthy Pet Services FAQs

Yes, our team will review the records to help you determine which vaccines your pet is due for. However, medical records are not required and if you don’t have them with you, our team can still help you determine which vaccines your pet should receive.

If you’ve been instructed to give your pet Benadryl or Zyrtec before their next vaccine visit, go ahead and do that at least ½ hour before your plan to bring your pet in for their vaccines. If you were not instructed to give Benadryl or Zyrtec or you forgot to do so, that’s okay. Be sure to tell the technician about your pet’s previous reaction. Our veterinarians will likely administer an antihistamine by injection before administering any vaccines.

If you did not give Benadryl or Zyrtec before coming, plan on spending a little longer at our clinic as our veterinarians will want to administer an antihistamine by injection and have you and your pet wait about 15-20min before giving the vaccines to allow the antihistamine to take effect.

It really depends on the pet but sometimes they can be a little painful or sleepy after receiving vaccines. This is normal and should resolve within about 12 hours. Avoid any trips to the dog park or long hikes the day of your pet’s visit.

If our team is unable to safely restrain your pet for vaccinations, our policy is not to force the procedure for the safety of your pet and our staff. In most cases, our veterinarians will send home a sedative medication for you to administer to your pet ahead of their visit on another day to help them stay calm during the procedure.
