One of our proudest achievements is the opening of the nation’s first low-cost veterinary dental and surgical center in Austin, Texas. Supported by PetSmart Charities, this groundbreaking facility marks a significant expansion of our services, ensuring that more pet owners—like Corinne and her cat Beasley—have access to the care they need.
Years ago, Corinne took in a litter of four-week-old kittens to foster. Among them was Beasley, who quickly formed a special bond with Annabelle, a kitten Corinne had just adopted. Beasley also found a friend in the family dog, solidifying his place in the household.
“It wasn’t long before Beasley transitioned from being a foster kitten to a cherished family member,” Corinne recalls.
For over a decade, Beasley brought joy to Corinne and her family with head butts, snuggles, and his spirited personality. However, a few months ago, a small growth appeared on Beasley’s neck. At first, Corinne thought it might have resulted from his playful roughhousing with Annabelle. But as the growth continued to grow, concern set in.
Corinne was familiar with Emancipet’s reputation for exceptional, affordable care with vaccines and spay/neuter services. Learning about our new dental and surgical center was a relief, as it was the perfect place to seek help for Beasley.
“I was thrilled to find out about the new surgical center, particularly because it allowed me to get Beasley’s growth treated, at an affordable cost,” Corinne shares.
From the moment Beasley and Corinne arrived at Emancipet’s clinic, they were met with compassion and professionalism. The staff were approachable and reassuring, explaining Beasley’s condition and the procedure he would undergo.
“Their kindness and professionalism eased my fears about my 13-year-old baby undergoing surgery,” Corinne said.
Beasley received some extra snuggles from the staff when he returned for his stitches to be removed.
Today, Beasley is thriving. The fur around his neck and chest is slowly regrowing, and he is much more comfortable without the growth. He spends his days napping in the embrace of his adopted sister, Annabelle, finding cozy boxes to curl up in, or “helping” Corinne with sewing projects. His love for cat treats remains unwavering, and he will always believe there’s room for one more!
