Tito’s Handmade Vodka lives at the heart of Austin, TX, one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S. When stray dogs began making their way to the distillery, the people behind the vodka made it their mission to care for animals. Their Vodka for Dog People program was born, an initiative created to support animals and celebrate the bond between pets and their families. Animals like Justin, a rescued co-woofer who eventually found a forever home with a Tito’s employee.
Justin was once a stray dog that wandered the streets, and was cared for by caring neighbors. When Justin’s owner chose to bring him into the Distillery Dog family, they trusted Emancipet’s nearby Levander Loop Clinic with his care. With the support of our low-cost veterinary clinic, Justin received a neuter surgery and annual vaccines before eventually finding his forever home.
In turn, Justin provided his easygoing personality and endlessly loving spirit and quickly became a beloved member of the Tito’s Handmade Vodka family. As an official “co-woofer,” he greeted employees, appeared in photo shoots, starred in social media content, and brightened countless days around the office. His gentle nature made him a favorite of everyone he met, and he lived a long, happy life surrounded by people who adored him.
Justin spent his best years with his owner and the Tito’s Handmade Vodka team, trusting Emancipet for his yearly vaccines until the day he crossed the rainbow bridge. But Justin’s story doesn’t end there. His likeness was immortalized thanks to artist Clare Kim. You can now find Justin back at the newly updated Amy Mills Emancipet Clinic at Levander Loop, From his place overlooking the waiting room, Justin brings comfort to pet families seeking the same care he received.
Justin’s story is a reminder that sometimes the best coworkers, and the best friends, find us when we least expect it. Thanks to generous support from organizations like Tito’s Handmade Vodka’s “Vodka for Dog People” philanthropic program, families can find the care they need for their pets at Emancipet, without cost being a barrier.
